I have been trying to think about this question of what my favourite business/technological innovation is... and, for the life of me, I cannot seem to think of anything plausible.
What is yours? Why?
Yours hectically, nutshell

Solar-powered water purifiers. They hold promise for cool stuff like everybody being able to drink decent water.
Do technical innovations count? If so, at this very moment my favourite innovation would be an eggtimer, because I pretty much burned a whole oven tray full of christmas pies two seconds ago (reading your question made me remember them, don't ask me how... ;) and an eggtimer would have been the best possible replacement for my soft & forgetful brain. I could have asked Al to remind me, but he was to busy stuffing his face with the contents of the first tray to be of any help.
Apart from this, I really don't know what would be my favourite... I'll think about it.
I have several ... since I am in Senegal it definitely is aircon (I know I know I am wasting nonrenewable resources (electricity is done from petrol here) for my wee comfort). Then one of the really top once is a flushing toilet (is that technological or mecanical). But aside from my neurotic Senegalese dreams, I think the best technological innovation is the softicecream machine. I know a bit shallow, but that machine made me very happy as a kid.
The iPhone. If only these communist swine from Apple would sell them to those who want to buy them.
Solar-powered water purifiers are actually pretty cheap in their low-tech version: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_water_disinfection
water purifiers???? man you just use the two Lehm???(how do you say that) system. They use here all the time. No need for electricity
